I've already read the NIST reports. I prefer to place my faith in the fact that it is next to impossible for a bunch of Phds in Engineering to also be in on the conspiracy. How wide is it remo? How many people are in on it? Everyone?

I place far more faith in Phds in Engineering than the likes of Steven E Jones who studied muon-catalyzed fusion which doesn't have much to do with how buildings collapse now does it?
Maybe you should watch a little less Matrix and watch a little more of stuff like this... it'll blow your mind:

There are a lot of things about 9/11 that don't add up. Terrorists with box cutters? How do they know? A government that lies about torture and weapons of mass destruction cannot be entirely relied upon to speak truth about terrorism, and men that caused the deaths of over 500 000 Iraqis need not be presumed to have had scruples about killing a few thousand Americans.

I wish I shared your confidence in the merits of the trial Gordon, for it ought to be a triumph for the rule of law. But a judiciary that appoints presidents is less than perfectly impartial. I would be surprised if the outcome of this trial reflects much of either law or justice.

the high point of this show trial is going to be when KSM finally lets us all know how he got the military grade nanothermite past Marvin BUSH and into the core structures of the three buildings to bring em down down free-fall.Golly. that was lucky. All those files destroyed. After which he will describe how he got NORAD to stand down for a whole hour and a half while his boys "did the business" . MSM can televise it in a series starring the whole CSI team with new haircuts.
thats going to be a real BUZZ. Speaking of BUZZ, perhaps there will be a scene where BUZZ Krongard gets asked about all that insider trading 'puts' that made him a packet of dosh that day??

Yes this is a great breakthrough. It is good to see that democracy actually works in the end. Even if the Bush administration suspended basic rights to the detainees during the crisis democracy will finally step in and rectify the wrong. It’s nothing new. It’s similar to what happened to the 120,000 American citizens of Japanese descent that were put in detention camps during WWII. The US military’s hardline at the time being that ‘a Jap is a Jap’. Not to mention the almost 27,000 people that were detained between 1939 and 1945 in Britain without charge or trial and the 7000 that were deported. Of course that was all before the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 but the Third Geneva Convention which covers the treatment of prisoners of war had already been adopted by 1929. I guess we should be thankful that the detainees only amounted to around 759 former and current inmates. It’s a pity that it took the Supreme Court until 2006 to actually go against the Bush administration but then that’s not strange either I guess. The fact still stands that if the US was not a democracy this trial and change in policy direction may never have come. Imagine if the US was China. They wouldn’t even need to put the camp at Guantanamo Bay in the first place.

Anyway I’m not sure about your analysis Gordon with respect to KSM and the other accused pleading guilty. I thought that possibly they would refuse to recognise the federal courts because they do not adhere to sharia law. That could more or less lead to the same result as if they pleaded not guilty anyway. Also I figure that most of the contaminated evidence will be filtered out pre-trial without much of what was said about it in court being released to the public until after the trial. I thought maybe that they may have got new confessions from KSM without the use of torture anyway which would account for them being confident enough to put them on trial. In any case, I don’t think that Cheney’s bunch will get much of a grilling as the prosecution will likely not rely much on any contaminated evidence as if they didn’t think that they could prosecute on the uncontaminated evidence alone I doubt that they would risk putting them on trial in the first place.

It will be interesting to see what happens…
